Press Towards the Mark!

Updated: Jan 1, 2021

As we continue to move towards the end of the year, we can now reflect back to see what God has actually brought us through. I know for me there has been a lot of changes in my life. First, I changed work locations which brought me closer to home from 35 minutes to a 10 minutes drive. Second, I am now working with a different group of co workers; even though I am 10 minutes closer to home, I need to overcome the fear of feeling alone, or wandering will my new co workers accept me in their environment

But what ever changes we have made this year, we know that God has been with us every step of the way. I'm learning how to just praise Him no matter what, I'm also learning to trust God in every situation.

In Philippians Chapter 4:11 the apostle Paul teaches us that no matter what state we are in, we should learn to be content. He said that he know how to be abased and he know how to be abound, and that he has learn to be both full and hungry, both to abound and to suffer need because we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

The Bible tells us not to fret or worry because it only make matters worst, but to cast all of our cares on the Lord because He cares for us. The only thing we need to focus on is Humility and His love for us. We need to remind ourselves to stay humble under the mighty hand of God, for in our humbleness the Holy Spirit can lead us into all truth and the truth shall make us free. The truth is God loves us, and He sent us a Savior His Son Jesus.

Now we need to believe that He has redeemed us from a world of sin, and we can walk in liberty. Do this mean that we won't have any hardship? of course not. Christians will share in Christ Jesus sufferings, but if we suffer with Him, we shall reign with Him.

The three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the book of Daniel knew what it was like to share in the Lord's suffering, for they were determine not to bow down to false gods even though they were living in a foreign land. they did not forget the God that they serve the one, true, and living God. Because they would not bow down to the image of gold that the king Nebuchadnezzar had built, they were forced into a fiery furnace. The furnace was heated seven times hotter than the usual, but the Hebrew boys knew that their God would deliver them. the furnace was so hot, that it destroyed the guards who were ordered to put them in the furnace. But when the King examined the the outcome of their punishment, he asked the question "did we not put three men in the fire"? yes, they replied. "Well, I see four men loose walking around, and the fourth is like the Son of God".

No matter what our Lot may be, let our response be "It is well with my soul" because our Mark is to see His face-- Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2020 has been a challenging year for all of us, but a better day is coming. Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Blood and Righteousness.

Will you press toward the Mark of a higher calling?
