There is a Balm in Gilead

Updated: Jan 1, 2021

Balm is defined as an ointment or preparation to heal, or sooth the skin.

Have you ever thought about the healing process after you have had some type of cut or open wound?

First, there's pain and tenderness around the bleeding area; Second, after a few days, a scab occurs over the open wound, but there is still some tenderness; Third, after a period of time, the scab falls off, but the area has a light pinkish color because the new skin hasn't fully returned; plus, it is still a little sore, but the way to know that the wound has been fully healed, is when you can apply pressure to it, and it doesn't hurt any more.

In the book of Jeremiah Chp 46, God is showing those nations who do not want to serve Him as the one true, and living God that He is Sovereign. Some of these nations seemed to be very strong, powerful, and swift. Because Israel was God's chosen people, God used them to be an example to the other nations. God sent one of His profits, Jeremiah, to speak to the nations that God's warning was if they did not repent then they would be destroyed, and there would

be no healing for them. And, because these nations were not Jews, they were considered gentiles or unbelievers.

Today, we have so much to be thankful for because we serve a merciful God; God love us so much, that He sent His only son, that if we only believe in Him, we can have eternal life. it doesn't mater what nation we are from, it doesn't matter what family we were born in, it doesn't matter about our race, if we believe in Jesus, and accept Him as Lord over our life, we shall be saved.

These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message: The Kingdom of Heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy , drive out demons, freely." Matthew 10:5-8

The example Jesus is giving here, is to start within our own home, with our own kindred and community...………

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of age. Matthew 28: 18-20

Jesus came that all might be saved; the Jew, as well as, the Gentile.

After Jesus suffered, bled, and died on the cross for our sins, His mission was completed. He traded our sins for His righteousness, and with His stripes we are healed. Now when God looks at those who has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, He sees His son. Yes, we are covered by the blood of Jesus.

.

We no longer have to feel guilt or shame about our past. Romans 8:28 reads "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose."

Its not about us, but its all about Jesus, lift the savior up, and He will draw all men unto Him. In the old testament, there was no healing for the nations who did not believe. God told Jeremiah to tell them that there was no balm in Gilead. But in the new testament God sent His Son, and grace and mercy covers us because of His shed blood.

There is a balm in Gilead. In the Bible the word Gilead means a mountain area near the Jordan river where this balm was produced. But now Jesus is our balm for all who are hurting, and this is good news. Put your faith, and trust in Him.

Now, the race is not given to the strong, swift, or powerful, but to the one who endures until the end.

I Am the Lord that Healeth thee; I Am the Lord your Healer, I sent My Word , and Healed your disease; I Am the Lord your Healer.

Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today, and walk in your healing.
